Phase 2 of the Lahaina Bypass project to ease traffic congestion into and out of Lahaina town was completed on April 23. Completion of the second phase has greatly reduced gridlock, cutting as much as an hour or more off travel time.

“Before Phase 2 opened it took me 90 minutes to two hours to get home,” said Jim Music, Sands of Kahana General Manager. “It now takes me 45 minutes.”

Jim reports the lower road has been closed to traffic and all vehicles coming into Lahaina are now routed onto the new bypass. No construction date is set for Phase 3, which will continue up to Kahana.
